Aldi Distribution Centre Canteen and Toilet

Insulating your container can have long lasting positive effects on the items stored in your container or on the people working inside a converted container. The process is relatively cheap and is advised if you wish to gain the most value from your container.

Information

Aldi, a well-known international supermarket chain, reached out to Contain Yourself to upgrade the facilities available for their employees working at the distribution centre located in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork. The primary objective of the project was to create a comfortable and efficient work environment for the employees, thereby improving their overall satisfaction and productivity. To achieve this, the company needed to provide its employees with additional space for their lunch breaks, as well as improve the restroom facilities.

Concept

To fulfil Aldi’s requirements, Contain Yourself supplied two canteen units and three single toilet blocks. The larger of the two canteen units was 24ft x 12ft and the smaller one was 20ft x 10ft. Both units were designed to provide ample space for the employees to relax and take their lunch breaks. The canteen units were equipped with comfortable seating arrangements and tables, ensuring that the employees could enjoy their lunch in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The toilet blocks, each measuring 5ft x 5ft, were fully insulated and fitted with electric heaters, lights, and under sink heaters to provide the employees with comfortable restroom facilities.

Challenge

The primary challenge of this project was to deliver and install the canteen units and toilet blocks within the specified timeline, while ensuring that all relevant health and safety regulations were met. Additionally, the units needed to be placed in a convenient location within the distribution centre that would not obstruct the workflow or create any safety hazards. The project also required careful planning and coordination with Aldi to ensure that the new facilities were accessible to employees and that they met the company’s specific requirements.

Result

Contain Yourself delivered and installed the canteen units and toilet blocks on time, providing the employees with much-needed additional space for their lunch breaks. The canteen units were placed in a convenient location within the distribution centre, and the employees appreciated the comfortable seating arrangements and tables provided. The toilet blocks were also located in a convenient place and were well-maintained throughout the two-year hire period.

At the end of the two-year hire, Aldi decided to keep the larger 24ft x 12ft canteen unit and requested that it be moved to one of their warehouses. Contain Yourself carried out the task with the use of a Hiab crane truck, ensuring that the unit was safely transported and installed at its new location. The employees were very happy with the new facilities and appreciated the additional space that provided them with a comfortable and convenient environment for their lunch breaks. The project was completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard, greatly enhancing the work environment for the employees at the distribution centre. Overall, the project was deemed a great success and received positive feedback from Aldi and their employees.
